1. Purpose of This Disclaimer

This document explains the role and limitations of artificial intelligence features within Respocare Connect AI.

Its purpose is to ensure that all users clearly understand:

  • how the AI system functions
  • what the system is designed to do
  • what the system is not designed to do
  • the role of the clinician when using the system

Respocare Connect AI is designed to support healthcare professionals by assisting with clinical information processing and documentation tasks, while maintaining the clinician as the final authority.

2. Clinical Decision Authority

Respocare Connect AI does not replace clinical judgement.

All medical decisions remain the sole responsibility of the licensed healthcare professional using the system.

This includes decisions relating to:

  • diagnosis
  • treatment
  • medication
  • referrals
  • interpretation of medical information
  • patient management

The AI system must be treated as an assistive tool only.

3. Nature of AI Outputs

Artificial intelligence features within the platform may generate outputs such as:

  • summaries of patient records
  • structured clinical notes
  • transcription of dictated clinical encounters
  • organisation of medical information
  • responses to clinician queries based on patient data

These outputs are generated through automated computational processes and may contain errors, omissions, or incomplete interpretations.

Users must review and confirm all outputs before relying on them for any clinical purpose.

4. No Medical Advice

Respocare Connect AI does not provide medical advice.

The system does not:

  • diagnose medical conditions
  • prescribe medication
  • recommend treatment plans
  • determine patient risk independently
  • replace consultation with a qualified healthcare professional

Any information produced by the system must be interpreted by a licensed clinician.

5. Human-in-the-Loop Requirement

The platform is designed around a human-in-the-loop model.

This means:

  • clinicians maintain full oversight
  • clinicians approve documentation before storage
  • clinicians validate AI-generated summaries
  • clinicians determine final medical decisions

No AI-generated output should be used in patient care without clinician review.

6. AI Limitations

Users must understand that AI systems have inherent limitations.

If patient records are incomplete, inaccurate, or outdated, AI-generated outputs may reflect those limitations.

Clinicians must ensure:

  • uploaded documents are correct
  • clinical information is verified before use

Respocare Connect AI is intended to assist with:

The system is designed to reduce administrative burden and support clinicians in managing clinical information.

It is not intended to act as an autonomous clinical decision-making system.

9. Regulatory Position

Where regulatory frameworks apply, the system is positioned as clinical decision support technology, meaning:

10. Limitation of Responsibility

Respocare (Pty) Ltd shall not be responsible for:

  • clinical decisions made using the system
  • failure by users to review AI outputs
  • misuse of AI-generated information
  • clinical outcomes resulting from reliance on system outputs

Healthcare professionals using the system remain responsible for all patient care decisions.

11. Professional Use Requirement

The system is intended for use only by:

  • licensed healthcare professionals
  • authorised clinical staff operating under supervision

Use of the platform by unqualified individuals is strictly prohibited.
