About Respocare

Respocare Connect AI is built by Respocare (PTY) Ltd — a licensed South African healthcare practice that has been delivering home oxygen therapy since 2018.

Not a software company that entered healthcare. A healthcare business that built software.

The practice

Respocare began in 2018 doing something unglamorous and consequential: getting medical oxygen to the people who needed it, reliably, at home.

Oxygen is a prescription medicine. Every delivery starts with a script from a pulmonologist or physician, moves through medical aid authorisation, and ends with equipment installed in someone's home and a family taught how to use it. Respocare has run that chain since 2018 — for patients living with COPD, pulmonary fibrosis and heart failure, and for the clinics, hospitals and EMS teams that depend on cylinder supply arriving when it was promised.

That work made Respocare a partner to care teams rather than a supplier to them. It also meant living inside the constraints that govern healthcare: prescriptions, patient data, medical aid processes, and the plain fact that when a delivery is late, someone cannot breathe.

Not a software company that entered healthcare. A healthcare business that built software.

Why this matters for the software

Respocare Connect AI was not built by a technology company reaching into medicine from the outside. It was built by people who have spent eight years accountable inside clinical environments — and who understand what it costs when a system is wrong.

That heritage shapes the platform's architecture, not just its marketing.

The clinician governs.

Identity scoping is enforced at the database layer, not asserted as policy. The AI drafts. The record verifies. The clinician decides.

Patient safety is a constraint, not a feature.

Connect AI is a clinical documentation and reasoning tool. It does not diagnose, prescribe, or make clinical determinations, and it is not a medical device.

Evidence is published, not claimed.

Where clinical validation is relevant, it is documented and available to read — because the clinicians Respocare works with have always been free to check.

Eight years of getting oxygen to a bedside taught us what healthcare software has to earn before a clinician will trust it. That is the standard Connect AI is built to.
